Movie Characters & More
ALADDIN
& "Youthful Ward" (Sept. 2nd, 1998, approximately 9:55)
I had brought my sketchbook to the Soundstage
Restaurant Character Breakfast, and Aladdin described several
sketches in scenes from the movie. When I had casually mentioned
my website, he had asked about it. One year later, I
heard that he found it on his own (with Genie's help). Neat!
ARIEL'S GROTTO (Sept. 3rd, 1998, approximately 10:55 AM
or 11:10 AM)
Originally, I had visited Ariel to get a soundbyte for my
computer's shutdown sound, but the young lady here was a bit
intimidated, and the results were less than spectacular. I've learned later that the only things you should ask characters are "Want to see my (item related to character you're talking to)?", "Want to sign my autograph book?", "Can I get a picture with you?", and one that I myself hold in favor personally, "May I please have a hug?"
POCAHONTAS & MEEKO
(Sept. 2nd, 1998, approximately
10:30)
Pocahontas takes a break from hosting her show at the Animal
Kingdom to visit her best friend at Soundstage (and me, too).
MEG
(1998)
Don't blame me! It was her idea to have our picture taken (she
also calls me, "a real slice"; not sure how to take
that ;) ).
HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME
(1996)
I always like to get pics of characters as an observer rather
than a subject. Reduces the risk of looking like a total fool (of
course, Character Moments are best when they're not planned).
QUASIMODO (1996)
In this shot, I ask Quasi if he knows the gargoyles from the
cult Disney toon. He just laughed at me. :P
CLOPIN, KING OF THE GYPSIES
(1996)
Interesting fellow to talk to. He ought to host a magic show
in the France Pavillion of World Showcase (Nice hat, BTW *L* )
GENIE & TIMON
(1996)
What I liked about the Soundstage Character Meal was the interactivity of the different characters. You'd never know what they would be doing (the last time two Disney characters crossed-over was in the Hercules episode "Hercules and the Arabian Night")
Special thanks to David Shanske for getting some of these pics off of my video. Now I can do that myself with my digital camcorder's still image feature.
